Faith does not always know how, but Faith knows Who. 

There is something about knowing that God does not simply make promises; He keeps them. 

In Luke 1 Mary receives a promise that from a point of view seems impossible. She is told that she will give birth to Jesus, the promised Savior. Mary does not have all the answers. She does not know how this will happen. Still, she says, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” - Luke 1:38 

Mary chose to trust God’s Word even before she could see it come true. That is what faith does. Faith does not always know how. Faith knows Who. 

Sometimes God gives us a promise without giving us the plan. We want to know what will happen. We want to know when. We want to know how everything will work out. God asks us to trust Him one step at a time. Grace teaches us how to live. It trains us to say no to sin and to live self-controlled, righteous, and godly lives. We do not obey God to earn His love. We obey because we have already received His love. We do not live by faith to make God be faithful. We live by faith because He has already proved Himself faithful. Someone whose heart is steady in God: "He shall not be afraid of tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.”.  A fixed heart does not mean we never feel fear. It means that when fear comes, we know where to put our trust. 

Things change. People change. Plans change... God does not. 

Maybe today you are waiting for something God has spoken to you about. Maybe you do not understand what He is doing. Maybe you cannot yet see how that promise could ever come to pass. Remember Mary. Remember the promise of Jesus. Remember the God who kept His Word. Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you. Silence does not mean God is away. Uncertainty does not mean God is not faithful. Do not build your confidence in circumstances, feelings, people, or what you can see. Build your confidence in the character of God. 
 

His Word is trustworthy. 

His grace is enough. 

His promises are sure. 
 

We may not know what tomorrow holds. But, we know Who holds tomorrow. 
Because God is faithful to His Word, we can choose to live. Not by what we see but by faith!
